Lomi Lomi Massage Training

Lomi Lomi Training

Lomi Lomi Training - Traditionally, in ancient Hawaii healing arts such as Lomi Lomi Massage we're passed down within the family, from one generation to the next.

Training would continue for many years and would extend far beyond the bodywork itself and often included learning about the healing powers of herbs and other medicinal plants, intensive Ho'oponopono (personal therapy and healing) as well as chanting and dance.

Very little actual 'instruction' took place and learning occurred via observation and personal experience. What the student was ready to learn, is what they would understand. This is why traditional Lomi Lomi Training lasted for many years.

In fact, the true Lomi Lomi Massage practitioner never really stops learning, as they understand that they are a 'facilitator'of the natural healing process, and not the healer themselves. The true Lomi Lomi practitioner is ever humble.

Fast forward to today and Lomi Lomi Training has been simplified to both meet the needs of the modern world. And unlike ancient times, many Hawaiian teachers have embraced non-Hawaiian students from all over the world in an attempt to keep their deep wisdom and beautiful culture alive.

In the modern world, no longer do you need to apprentice for years and years to become a Lomi Lomi practitioner but rather you can learn many of the massage techniques by completing just a few courses.

In contrast to ancient times, training today in many schools is very much instructional. You can even watch Lomi Lomi Massage Video demonstrations that will show you how to give a basic Lomi Lomi Massage.

However, true Lomi Lomi runs much deeper than just 'techniques'. Traditional Lomi Lomi massage is much more 'intuitive' than many practitioners realize and developing this intuition and 'trust' is what takes time, not to mention much inner work.

When I say 'intuition' I'm referring to the practitioner 'tuning' into the receiver in a state of prayer and 'healing intention' as they place their hands on the body with a loving, soft touch. From this state of reverence the experienced Lomi Lomi practitioner lets their hands, fingers and forearms (the tools) 'dance' with the needs of the receiver, almost as if their moves are 'guided' as opposed to planned.

This is vastly different to massage in the western world where set 'step-by-step' massage routines are the standard practice.

Our Lomi Lomi Training here at Touch Of Aloha consists of a blend of the ancient with the modern.

On one level we teach our course participants very specific Lomi Lomi Massage techniques (the methods) and at the same time we allow them to learn through their own observation and experience. Above all we teach our participants about the healing power of 'loving touch' and how to use their intuition to really 'tune in' and 'feel' the body and from this place 'apply' the methods they have learned.

We have found that this allows our participants to develop their skills and abilities rapidly and that they are able to give wonderfully healing Lomi Lomi treatments even after completing just 1 or 2 Lomi Lomi Training courses.
